Cross River State House of Assembly Elects New Speaker

The New Speaker of the House

Hon. John Gaul Lebo has been elected by his colleagues as the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly.  Hon. Lebo is the member representing Abi constituency.  He is a lawyer with 17 years post call experience and this is his second tenure in the State House of Assembly.  Speaking after his inauguration earlier on today, Hon. Lebo said the principles of honesty and integrity would rule the house under his leadership.

Other Principal officers elected included Hon Joseph Bassey, the member representing Calabar South II constituency who emerged as Deputy Speaker, Hon. Moses Uchiche, the member representing Obanliku who emerged as Majority Leader and Hon Okon Edem Ephraim, the member representing Calabar South I who emerged as Chief Whip.  Hon Simon Nkoro Egbong representing Ikom II constituency emerged as Deputy Leader and Hon. Ogana Lupata representing Yala II constituency emerged as Deputy Whip.  The house has adjourned and will reconvene on 23 June 2015.
