The Cons of Social Media

One of the cons of social media these days is that something may happen to you and passer-bys would rather stand and take pictures of you squirming in pain rather than rendering first aid or helping convey you to a hospital where you would receive proper medical care.  Such was the plight of the young lady above who was involved in an accident during the week.  Apparently the brakes of a trailer failed, causing the driver to lose control of his vehicle and plough into her.  She was standing by the roadside and her legs were crushed as can be depicted in the picture.  You can see that she is sitting on the coal tar and calling for help but so many feet around her seem to be just standing still.

Has anyone bothered to go looking for her in the hospital?  I believe the accident was in the capital city of Asaba.  I hope the trailer driver and the owners of the trailer are brought to book for her injuries.  She has been scared for life looking at her mangled legs.  This is a call out to my blog readers in Asaba.  Can anyone please give a feedback on her condition?  Lawyers and Activist in Nigeria - please rise up to this lady's aid and seek justice! Let the perpetrators of her injuries either vicarious or not, not go scot free.

Let us turn this 'con' into a 'pro' and assist her in every possible way.

  1. I really hate it when people abuse social media - they should have helped her instead. Really painful to look at the accident victim- I cannot imagine :(
