Check Out This Rude Marks and Spencer Advert!

Add caption

No one is above mistake! Retailer Marks and Spencer have been forced to apologise for their "Buy Two Get One Free" christmas tree decorations advert which sells for £1 each and spelt out a rude word.  The rude word was spotted by a customer Nicola Young who shared the advert on twitter with the tag #noordinaryswearymessage.

Marks and Spencer refute allegations that the rude word was drummed up by a disgruntled or cheeky employee/ web designer and blamed the algorithms used to display products alleging that the words were generated in a random order.

Do you believe them?

Other advert errors include a tweet by french make up brand "Sephora" which tweeted "#countdowntobeauty" without the "o";
A Truro pub put up a sign reading "The wig and pen is open for business but forgot to leave a space between "pen" and "is";

Applying Okafor's Law In Nigeria

Simon Kolawole
Interesting Stuff.  When the National Assembly was about to be inaugurated in 1999, some shadowy figures took money to the lawmakers to influence the leadership elections. A "principled" senator from the south-west turned down the N150,000 offered to him through a fellow senator who acted as the middleman. Some days later, the "principled" senator turned down another N200,000, which was intended for the confirmation of ministers. His colleagues then decided to leave him out of the loop. But he soon stumbled on another sharing session in another room at the Hilton hotel. This time, it was N350,000. Our dear senator finally decided to eat his share of the national cake."Take it to my room," he said, repentantly. And having realised how much he had missed on two occasions, he quickly asked for the arrears: "And the other one... and the other one."

Have you ever heard about Okafor's Law? It is the law of "repeatable" action: if you have done something once, you can do it again. If you have been somewhere before, you can go there again. This is because you have crossed the Rubicon. Although it is often mischievously applied to boy-girl relationships, Okafor's law is a principle of life. If you collect bribe once, you can collect bribe again. If you drive against one way once, you can do it again. If you beat traffic light once, you can beat it again. In other words, having crossed the boundary, you can cross it again. Once you set off on a note, you are in position to continue with it.

Bloggers Be Warned! Publish False Stories For Monetary Gains & Face The Wrath Of The Law!

Lady Justice

The Law says that every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  There has been a rise in bloggers requesting for money from people they are about to write stories about.  The get rich quick or die trying syndrome is for real!

The modus operandi is that the bloggers cook up a story, then call their victim to inform him of the story they are about to publish.  The victim is then offerred a chance to prevent the story from being published by paying a specified amount of money.

Of course anything on the internet flies and once it is out there is difficult to retrieve so the victim has to think about his or her reputation - either stand strong and face the music or pay up and avoid the brohahaha that comes with being the trending topic of the day.

I have seen a situation first hand where a politician was called by a blogger that he had a story to publish (a cooked up story which was entirely false) and requested for N250,000 to stop the post from being published.  The politician called his bluff and asked him to go ahead and publish.

This same accusation is being levelled against another blogger - Desmond Ike Chima, publisher at and by United Bank For Africa (UBA) Managing Director (MD)  Phillips

APC Chieftain Barr. Okoi Obono Obla Releases Statement on Epic Ground Breaking of Super Highway

Barr Okoi Ofem Obono-Obla released a statement applauding the Governor of Cross River State Professor Ben Ayade (The digital Governor) for bringing himself closer to President Buhari through the groundbreaking ceremony for the 260km Superhighway which will span from Calabar, Cross River State to Katsina Ala in Benue State.  He clapped endlessly for Professor Ben Ayade's uniqeness, hard work, perseverance, winning spirit and his dynamic leadership qualities.

In his statement, Barrister Obono-Obla said:

"President Muhammadu Buhari has performed the ground breaking of the super highway in Obung, Akamkpa Local government area of Cross River State. In his speech he pledged the total commitment, support and dedication to the success of the project that he described as visionary and revolutionary. He commended Governor Ayade for his foresight in conceptualizing the project that will link South/South, North Central and North East on completion. He described as Governor Ayade as ' his brother' for his foresight in conceiving the project which is expected to link South South with North Central and North East. After the ceremony the President and his entourage including Governors Ayade; Rochas Okorocha and Udom Emmanuel; APC governorship candidate for Akwa Ibom State; Otega Emerhor, APC governorship candidate for Delta State and my self boarded the Nigerian Airforce One Chopper back to Margaret Ekpo International airport. Back we boarded Nigerian Airforce One back to Abuja. In the cabin with the President was Umana Umana, Otega and myself. While chatting with the President, Umana Umanah used the opportunity to thank the President for affording us the privilege to travel with him. The President jocularly said he was 'wooing ' the people of the South/South. The President then told us how as a young officer in the Army during the civil war trekked from Gekam in the present Bekwarra Local Government Area to the border between Nigeria and Cameroon in the present Etung Local Government Area. The President is an intensely private person but at the same time friendly and humorous. But he is a study in humanity! To God be the glory!"
