Calabar Itu Highway Transformed Into Calabar Itu Lake..... (Shame On You Federal Ministry of Works!!)

A tale in pictures told by a traveller - William Ogolo....

The Adventures of Peter Pan!!!

I had to hurriedly make a trip to Calabar yesterday. Annoyingly, we spent two hours trying to get out of Port Harcourt but little did I know that my troubles were yet to begin. In summary, I left Port Harcourt (PHC) by 10am and very luckily made Calabar by 6pm (8hrs). Even if na Lagos...

Just after the Itu Bridge we got to know that part of the expressway was covered by over flowing waters from the river and you would have several options:
  • Return to where you come from;
  • Wait hours late into the night when the waters would hopefully subside; or
  • Cross to the other side of the express way in a dug-out canoe!
Meanwhile the traffic to the Hot spot was like 2km approachable only by Okada. And when you eventually make it across, another Okada ride of about 10km to the nearest transport park as all vehicles coming from Calabar had turned back. I thought it was a joke... Guy, make up your mind, choose ya option and quickly so.

As I learnt, people were there much after 12 midnight to the early hours of the morning.

A trial will convince you.....
