Miss Columbia Talks About Her 5 Minutes Reign As Miss Universe

It is no longer news that Miss Colombia was crowned Miss Universe 2015 on Sunday 20th December 2015.  A couple of minutes after she was crowned, host Steve Harvey made an announcement in which he apologised that the wrong queen had been crowned.  He then proceeded to call out the name of the rightful winner - Miss Philipines - Pia Wurtzbach as the right Miss Universe 2015.  He also showed the audience the card he had received with the names of the winners to convince the audience that there was no hanky panky involved.

Miss Columbia - Ariadna GutiƩrrez had to suffer the humiliation with a smile and not only surrender her crown and sash to Miss Philippines - Pia Wurtzbach in front of a live TV audience but also take her new place as first runner up to the new Miss Universe 2015.

Reacting gracefully, she took to Instagram to thank everyone for their support and kindness following the incident.  Ariadna said:

"After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world.  Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes... Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe.  The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS."

New Miss Universe 2015 - Pia Wurtzbach

My heart goes out to Miss Columbia but she  should look on the bright side.  She has earned her place in the record books and her reign as the Queen with the shortest reign will be etched in the books forever.
